About Primary Action
Primary Action is a movement that unites voters across the political spectrum to bring bipartisanship back to Washington one primary at a time. We support primary candidates who are outspoken in their efforts to put their constituents and country before party.
In the last several elections conservative groups like the Tea Party have driven the Republican Party further and further to the right, out of step with the views of most Americans.
Because so few congressional districts are competitive, a primary challenge from the far right is the only threat that most safe-seated Republicans have to worry about. Primary turnout is very low, often with less than 10% of a district participating. That means a primary vote can be several times as powerful against an incumbent than a vote in November.
At Primary Action we want to change the incentives for congress by showing that there's a bigger constituency for bipartisanship than there is for rigid partisan orthodoxy.
We are a PAC supporting a small group of independent congressional Republican candidates in their primaries. Candidates who don't view bipartisanship as a four-letter word.
